Snowblower Reviews

  • No Way Troybilt
    By Gruetz(Owner), Feb. 28, 2012
Bought two of the 24" snow blowers last Sept. both worked initially. We used them twice and this season, neither work. Used a gas stabilizer over the summer and restarted the units as well.

Called the Lowe's hot line to get it fixed and then referred me the local Lowe's where I bought it. Needless to say, I had to get this unit to them, explain their own policy on this item and then unload it to find out they send it out anyhow to get fixed. I asked them how long it would be? Maybe a week and then they asked me if I wanted to buy the extended warranty beyond the $100 warranty they had on these. I said "What" only a $100? Yeah and then I have to pay for their piece of crap. No way.
    Never again.

  • Stalls repeatedly; Had to restart dozens of times to do a 40-foot long driveway
    By F Letsy(Owner), Feb. 9, 2013
The Troy Bilt 2410 stalls repeatedly, even when not actively blowing snow. My driveway is only about 40 feet long, and I must have re-started the snowblower 40 times - many times coming back to the garage to get to the electiric starter; many other times using the pull cord. I really had to nurse this thing to finish the job. (Yes. I know how to use the choke.) The snow was deep, but this is a pretty big snowblower, and I was able to make cuts only about 2 inches wide to keep the Troy Bilt from stalling. And the sidewalk? Where I had to cut through 20" of snow? Not a chance, even in the lowest forward gear, it couldn't handle a couple of inches forward at a time, now matter how careful I was.

  • Chute control
    By IAnorwalk(Owner), Feb. 27, 2014
This snow blower has only one flaw that I can see, but it is a big one. The chute control stick does not engage the chute so it can't turn. Troy bilt knows about the problem because in the owners manual, they basically acknowledge the issue but their suggested remedy (loosening and re-tightening the 2 screws that hold the control stick bracket) does not and cannot work. It is a plain old manufacturing defect.

  • Great enging but chute control does not operate
    By Marty Katz(Owner), Mar. 7, 2014
Purchased this in October 2013. Starts fine! Problem is the chute control mechanism has a design defect which causes the control to disengage from the chute so you can't rotate it. The workaround is to unscrew the two bolts holding the control, adjusting the gears and then retightening. However, having to do this every time you use the machine is a pain.
