went back to ariens
By m(Owner), Mar. 5, 2012we bought it because of the husky name with intentions of retiring or selling our ariens.
what a rude awakening. for some reason the snow bunches up in front of the blower no matter how slow we go. it clogs up in the main front impeller. not sure but maybe the impeller is toooo small? i thought maybe the motor wasn't running fast enough to do the job, so i went to speed up the motor and there is no throttle.the levers that are supposed to help steer it take two hands to pull, what a struggle. i put it back in the garage and got the slightly smaller ariens out again and could go to work. it is kind of like buying a lawnmower and then finding out it can't cut grass. will be selling the husky. hope this helps -
Husqavarna 1830sb
By James Ballantyne(Owner), Jan. 26, 2013I had a 10hp, 30 inch snowblower for 30 years (Canadian Tire) which up and siezed up on me. Replaced it with the Husqavarna 1830 which arrived today. The machine is a beast. I have adjusted the skids down so there is about 1/2 inch clearance. Prior to doing this it tended to grab any lumps or high points, the drive ways I clean are gravel base covered with ice so the initial runs were a workout. After adjusting the shoes it worked like a dream. Lots of power to dig into a 2 foot drift. I found the speed kept creeping up on me until I realized there were knotches to lock it in. They can't been seen but you can feel them. In heavy snow the slowest speed is all you'll want to use otherwise control is a challenge but even at the slowest it works as fast as I wanted to go. -
Husqvarna 1830SB Snowblower
By Jerry(Owner), Feb. 9, 2013I have owned one of these snowblowers for two years. It starts very well manually. Usually on the first or second pull. It has great power and has no problem moving snow. I seldom used the electric 120V starter and the electric motor seized the second year and no longer works. The lower part of the chute is made of plastic and cannot withstand rock or gravel driveways in early or late season snowfalls. It has broken twice, once during each year of use. It was replaced under warranty the first time. The mechanism that allows one hand operation also is not robust enough to stay in operation. This has also failed twice. The remote chute works very good and the power steering is a great feature too. -
Unstoppable
By Paul(Owner), Feb. 12, 2013This machine is insane. 33 in snow no problem. then pouring rain on top no problem. this machine is great. A little big but great!!!
