  • Good Snowblower while it work - Poorly Designed For Long Term
    By James Ryan(Owner), Sep. 22, 2015
Purchased this highly recommended snowblower.com high end snowblower in 2011because I wanted a quality machine that I could depend on. While it worked it was a decent snowblower not significant better than the Snapper I own.

The chute is difficult to operate. I'm told by my local dealer there is an update kit to correct the design flaw but I have to pay to install it.

The larger issue is three short seasons, one of which the snow blower wasn't used at all and another it was barely used, the machine is shot. It appears poor design resulted in friction against the traction drive spring causing it to fail which in turn caused the friction plate to get a flat spot. My dealer tells me that this in turn may damage the drive wheel.

I contacted Ariens and they denied the issue as being a known chronic issue. Which, of course, makes the problem worse because I don't know if the issue will be a reoccurring one in which case I'll be stuck with snow on the driveway and constantly taking it in for repair.
