Disappointed

I've had a Trybilt snowblower for 15 years but it broke down this winter and the parts are not available to fix it. So I did some research and bought this machine based on the reputation of the company and the reviews I read.

After two small snowfalls (5" and 3"), I am totally disappointed. This machine has a release that allows the user to disengage the left wheel to make it easier to turn the machine. Seems like a great idea but it doesn't work well. It doesn't engage the wheel which means the machine gets stuck even in three inches of snow...the right wheel spins and the left wheel won't engage. I bought it from a local dealer and they came to fix the problem after the first snowfall. But I had the same problem on the second use. In addition it would not start with the hand pull on the second use. I had to use the electric start to get it started.

I can't compare to any other machines currently on the market but it's totally disppoining compared to my old Troybilt. I would not buy this machine again and would not recommend it.

Two years ago, I purchased an Ariens Deluxe 27. I was so pleased to finally have an Ariens track machine. Almost immediately, the four bolts holding the handlebar to the body of the blower became loose to the point of losing several even after I had tightened up the bolts before use. To top it off, in order to replace the nut you have to remove much of the underbody. Big disappointment, big waste of my time. The Briggs and Stratton engine, however, is outstanding.

I have used this Ariens for 4 winters. Had almost a 2 footer a couple of times. Really steep and off-camber driveway from Hell. Big open area needs snow thrown a long way to clear. Super reliable, always starts, no trouble. I only use no-ethanol gasoline with Stabil or Off-Season, so I don't have experience with ethanol gas. Absolutely love it. I wouldn't do it, but you could even hit the plow driver's windshield from a long way if he buries your driveway exit again each pass. So you could just loiter and counterattack when he gets here. You might have to teach the new drivers every year, but they would learn to back off some. Yeah, it would really be worth it. HOOrah.
